Mike Newcombe

Mike started off as an apprentice in Painting and Decorating before starting his own company in 1976 – J & M Decorators. He employed 12 members of staff, specialising in the refurbishment of hotels, restaurants, banks and offices. Turnover has grown steadily from £500k in year one, to a projected turnover of £4-5m in the current financial year

Due to the increase in volume, and extent of the works, Mike established Newgate Construction Ltd in 1998 to specialise in providing a quality management service to the construction industry. Mike is responsible for the management of the company, providing overall direction and responsibility to all projects, irrespective of size

John Macdonald

In 2000 John Macdonald joined the company as Commercial Director. John is responsible for the implementation of office and site systems, all aspects of the procurement process and site construction, along with financial controls. John has a wealth of building industry experience, including office and site administration, quantity surveying, estimating, project controls and contractual responsibilities

Steve McGuiness

Steve joined Newgate Construction in 2001 as Chief Estimator and is in charge of all aspects of estimating in his current role as Estimating Director. Steve is responsible for a team who send all necessary S/C, deal with supplier and general enquiries, and he carries out final adjudication with the directors. Steve has spent his career in estimating

Jon Newcombe

Jon joined in 1998 after moving across from J & M Decorators, where he gained valuable industry experience. Jon is the Office Manager for Newgate Construction and is in charge of all Health & Safety, including risk assessments, method statements, construction management plans and policies

Sharon Carley

Sharon joined the team at Newgate Construction in 2012 in the role of Account Manager and PA to Mike Newcombe. She predominantly comes from a book-keeping and financial background, and is responsible for maintaining the day to day administration and financials of the office. She is extremely organised and very detail focused with a track record of accurately and efficiently supporting overall accounting activities
